Wednesday, September 7, 2022 **The sophomore class ring assembly is today during academic lab. All sophomores will receive a class ring packet at the assembly. If a student is absent, please stop by the Guidance Office for a packet. **There will be a spirit club meeting today during academic lab in E121. **The East Alton Soapbox Derby is this Saturday. If you would like to volunteer please sign up in the Attendance Center. Volunteers need to arrive at 9:15 am and the event will be over around 2 pm. All volunteers need to meet at the check station by Tropical Sno in East Alton (by the old EA Shop n Save). If you volunteer please wear an Oiler shirt or another appropriate t-shirt plus be sure to sign in and sign out. Again the sign up is in the Attendance Center. **After school tutoring is available in E118 from 2:30-3:00 Monday through Thursday. **Guest forms for the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 24th, are available in the Attendance Center. If a student plans to bring a guest the form must be turned in by September 16th. Rules about which guests can and can’t attend the dance are listed on the form. More information regarding Coronation and the dance will be available in the coming weeks. **Tri City Soccer has increased their rate for soccer Officials. The pay is now $20 for Rookie and $25 for junior & senior per game. The EA Rec is hosting a Free Referee Clinic at the EA Keasler Complex today from 7:30-8:30pm for anyone that is interested. **Interested in working with fellow students in Madison County on improving the health and wellness of students? The Madison County ROE #41 is asking for 2 students from each high school to represent their district on the Madison County Youth Council. If you are interested in learning more, please see Mrs. Venvertloh in the Guidance Office by September 12th to sign up or email her at kvenvertloh@eawr.org. **Junior and Senior girls with at least a 2.25 GPA, Big Sisters applications are available now and due by this Friday September 9th to Mrs. Miller or Mrs. Parmentier. Big Sisters is a community service organization that holds fundraisers like bake sales and different events like King of Hearts. Please apply if you would like to participate! **Ms. Scheffel will need help setting up, selling, and cleaning up her yard sale to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association Walk. If interested, please see Ms.Scheffel in Room 105 or email her at cscheffel@eawr.org You can earn up to 13 hours of community service. **Thursday’s volleyball game is home against Roxana and the theme is Oil Spill. **Friday’s football game is home and the theme is red/white/blue--it is also the 9/11 game. There will be a tailgate Friday from 6:15-6:40 before the varsity football game. This week we will have pizza, chips, soda/water. This is free for all EAWR students and EAWR staff. Please also sit in the student section at the game. **Saturday's volleyball tournament is home and the theme is red/white/blue. **Fall show open auditions for “The Butler Did It” for all students will be held in the auditorium tomorrow at 5pm. Audition video submissions are possible if you cannot attend and must be submitted tomorrow by 8pm. Please let your directors know if you plan on submitting a video. Stop by the main office to pick up audition materials this week if you choose. You can also wait to receive materials at auditions. If you plan on being a part of the tech crew, please stop by auditions to let your directors know.

The Oilers will remember 9/11 at our home football game Friday night and at our annual volleyball tournament on Saturday morning. Active and retired military families will receive free admission on Friday night to the football game. Both teams will wear commemorative jerseys.

Thursday, September 1, 2022 **Do you like the Netflix show Stranger Things? Are you interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons like a REAL nerd? If you'd like to join D&D Club, come to the Art Room M-009 after school tomorrow! **Picture Day will be on Tuesday, September 6. The flyer given to you by your first hour teacher is incorrectly dated August 26. Lifetouch will be here on September 6 to take photos of all students, faculty, and staff. Seniors, even if you plan to use a senior photo from an outside photographer for the yearbook, get your photo taken by Lifetouch on Picture Day so that you will appear in the Class of 2023 composite photo. **Students can purchase a fall athletic pass from the Attendance Center for $5. This pass will allow an EAWR student into all fall home games for $5 (football/volleyball) except for IHSA contests.
