OilerNation-

We are aware that a video circulating on social media this evening is causing renewed concern and misinformation regarding a student health issue at EAWR.

The EAWR campus was professionally treated again this evening by a licensed pest control company. This treatment was scheduled yesterday as a continued precautionary measure and was not a reaction to social media content.

The District has spoken directly with the local health department to review the steps taken to address both the campus and the impacted family. Based on that review, the health department confirmed that the District’s response has met and exceeded recommended practices.

As I have stated before, social media posts—especially videos shared without context—can quickly create fear and confusion. Speculation does not improve safety, but it does escalate anxiety and misinformation.

We also want to be clear that terms such as “outbreak,” “endangering,” or claims of “widespread infestation” being used online are not accurate and are not supported by verified information. Using exaggerated or inflammatory language does not reflect the reality of the situation or the actions the District has taken.

I encourage families to educate themselves about bed bugs and health-related topics; however, doing so must not come at the expense of another student’s dignity, privacy, or well-being.

As reiterated in my communication on Saturday, official District communication remains the appropriate source for accurate information regarding this matter.
