The Oilers will remember 9/11 at our home football game Friday night and at our annual volleyball tournament on Saturday morning. Active and retired military families will receive free admission on Friday night to the football game. Both teams will wear commemorative jerseys.
Girls open gym for 3rd-5th grade here in Memorial Gym. Numbers get a little bigger each Sunday.

**Do you like the Netflix show Stranger Things? Are you interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons like a REAL nerd? If you'd like to join D&D Club, come to the Art Room M-009 after school tomorrow!
**Picture Day will be on Tuesday, September 6. The flyer given to you by your first hour teacher is incorrectly dated August 26. Lifetouch will be here on September 6 to take photos of all students, faculty, and staff. Seniors, even if you plan to use a senior photo from an outside photographer for the yearbook, get your photo taken by Lifetouch on Picture Day so that you will appear in the Class of 2023 composite photo.
**Students can purchase a fall athletic pass from the Attendance Center for $5. This pass will allow an EAWR student into all fall home games for $5 (football/volleyball) except for IHSA contests. All fall athletes and band members get into fall events for free.
**The East Alton Soapbox Derby is on Saturday, September 10th. If you would like to volunteer please sign up in the Attendance Center. Volunteers need to arrive at 9:15 am and the event will be over around 2 pm. All volunteers need to meet at the check station by Tropical Sno in East Alton (by the old EA Shop n Save). If you volunteer please wear an Oiler shirt or another appropriate t-shirt plus be sure to sign in and sign out. Again the sign up is in the Attendance Center.
**Tomorrow the Oiler Varsity Football team will be playing CM at CM High School in Bethalto. Kickoff is 7 pm and the theme for the game is wear white. Please note that no passes will be accepted for the game--the price for students is $2 and adults $4.
**After school tutoring is available in E118 from 2:30-3:00 Monday through Thursday.
**Guest forms for the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 24th, are available in the Attendance Center. If a student plans to bring a guest the form must be turned in by September 16th. Rules about which guests can and can’t attend the dance are listed on the form. More information regarding Coronation and the dance will be available in the coming weeks.
**If you are interested in playing competitive esports for EAWR, sign up sheets are in the college and career center. See Coach Drew for more information.
**There will be a meeting for anyone interested in wrestling for the Oilers today, during academic lab, in the auditorium

Ms Mueller received money through the Green Seed Grant to raise monarchs in her classroom. These were the first two born in the classroom and she still has a few others in a chrysalis (the little green pouch you see hanging next to the butterfly in the photo) waiting to come out. She is hopeful that her and the students will be able to do some butterfly releases soon!
