Wednesday, January 31, 2024 **Seniors: This Saturday EAWR is hosting a 12 team basketball shootout. Seniors can earn up to 12 hours for volunteering from 9:30 am-9:30 pm. Volunteers will be helping with different tasks such as concessions, helping after prom with their fundraiser, hospitality room, etc. If you can't volunteer the whole time, please note that next to your name when you sign up in the google doc shared by Mrs. Robinson. **The Wood River Public Library is offering the following events for teens: Monday, February 5 at 6:00pm: Teen Lego Challenge and Monday, February 26 at 6:00pm: Squishmallow Paint Party. These are free and all materials are provided! If anyone has questions, they can email kristen@woodriverlibrary.org The Wood River Library is surveying EAWR students to gather information regarding services they can offer. Please take a minute and complete the survey that was sent to your email by Mrs. Robinson. All responses need to be received by this Friday. Two students that complete the survey will win an Amazon gift card. **Attention Juniors and Seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or above: You should have received an online invitation to join the National Honor Society Google Classroom page. There you will find information regarding a meeting to be held this Wednesday in E121 during academic lab, where we will discuss how to fill out an application to join NHS. If you are interested in joining, please accept the google classroom invite. For questions, see Ms. Mueller in E122. Current members who were inducted last year do not need to reapply or attend the meeting. **If you are interested in learning more about cybersecurity, we will not only be offering a class next year, but there is also an opportunity to go to a workshop at SIUE on March 22. Please see Mrs. Struif in the Guidance Office for more details and to sign up. **Attention Peer Leadership members: There will be a meeting next Monday, Feb 5th, during academic lab in room E121. **There will be a Saturday Scholars meeting this Friday in Mr. Daniels' room E208 during Academic Lab. This is just to talk about our first upcoming trip this Saturday to Edwardsville High School. Bus leaves at 1:00 pm and gets back roughly 3:30 pm. All students must ride the bus as per school policy. **Seniors: Second semester, the additional senior exemption is for completing the FAFSA or the online opt out for FAFSA. Originally this needed to be completed by March 1st, however, due to the FAFSA form being released late and our guidance department being notified that information to them will not be available until a later date we are extending the deadline to April 1st. So if a senior completes the FAFSA or the online opt out for FAFSA by April 1st and has 7 or fewer absences that senior is exempt from finals. **Students, Coach Colona says it is not too late to join the track & field team. They practice everyday right after school and meet in the east building courtyard. If you are in a winter sport, you may join when your season ends. If you are not currently in a sport, go to EAWR.net and click Athletic Registration to get signed up.
