OilerNation- Earlier this evening the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules voted 9-0-2 to reject the reintroduction of emergency rules for Covid-19 protocols in schools which include masking, testing and exclusion. As a result of the action taken by the JCAR, East Alton-Wood River High School District #14 will now be MASK OPTIONAL for all students and staff starting tomorrow Wednesday February 16, 2022. Today is Tuesday, February 15, 2022 **It’s time! Time to vote for your favorite King of Hearts by donating money into his box in the East Building courtyard through Friday, February 25th at 11am! Big Sisters will donate all money raised to a local charity and the King will be crowned Saturday, February 26th at the King’s Dance. Big Sisters is proud to announce the candidates for King: Lucas Brown, Zach Lybarger, Kyle Malley, Nicholas Mason, and Keith Wright. So bring your change, cash, or checks and vote today! **King's dance tickets are $10 a piece and can be purchased all next week after school or during academic lab from Mrs. Timmins and Mr. Daniels in room E207 and E208. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door, so you must come and purchase them in advance! **Drake Champlin, Jason Shaw and Aaron Niemeyer advanced to the state wrestling tournament and we will be having a short send off at 2:20 tomorrow in the Courtyard to wish them good luck. If your class is available please escort them over so we can send them off to Champaign.

All students are invited to take advantage of this opportunity. **The King's Dance will be held on Saturday, February 26th. (The King's Dance and TWIRP are the same dance. TWIRP was the previous name and no one knew what it meant, so it is now called the King's Dance, since it is where we crown the King of Hearts) This dance is open to all 9th-12th graders. Guests will also be allowed at the dance, but a guest form must be filled out and turned in by February 18th. Guest forms can be picked up outside of Mrs. Timmins and Mr. Daniels classrooms. Rules for which guests can and cannot attend the dance are listed on the form. Masks are required. **If you would like to purchase a rose from Student Council to be delivered on Valentine's day, please see Mrs. Timmins to purchase it. This is a requirement from the Illinois State Board of Education that all students must complete. All 3rd hour teachers will have a list of student ID numbers and the ID number is different from your EAWR ID number. **Room E121 will be open after school until 3 pm for students to get help and have a quiet place to work. The amount will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. A special donation was made by Mrs. Moore in honor of her father who passed away from lymphoma in September. We thank you all for your donations! Mrs. Mueller's 1st hour Spanish class raised the most money and will receive donuts! Mr. Forsting's , Mrs. Blackwell's and Mrs. Catlin's classes collected other generous amounts! Thanks again!
