East Alton Wood River Community High School District 14 will complete a comprehensive renovation of the high school auditorium during Summer 2026, modernizing one of the District’s most visible and widely used instructional and community spaces. The project reflects a continued commitment to maintaining high-quality facilities that support student learning, performance opportunities, and community engagement.
The auditorium renovation will include the installation of new fixed seating in a reconfigured layout designed to improve accessibility, sightlines, and overall comfort for audiences. Existing flooring will be replaced with a durable epoxy system to provide a long-lasting, low-maintenance finish suitable for high-traffic use. Lighting throughout the space will be upgraded to modern LED fixtures, improving energy efficiency while enhancing visibility and atmosphere for performances and presentations. Wall and ceiling surfaces will also be refreshed to create a cleaner, more contemporary environment, and sound system components will be upgraded to support clearer audio for assemblies, performances, and public events.
In addition to functional improvements, the renovation introduces new architectural branding elements that reinforce the District’s identity and tradition. Illuminated Oilers-themed wall features will be installed on the rear wall of the auditorium, creating a strong visual connection to school history while contributing to the updated appearance of the space. Decorative wall sconces will be added to improve lighting balance and create a more welcoming setting for audiences.
The auditorium serves students for instruction, performances, ceremonies, and large-group events, while also supporting regional meetings, concerts, and community gatherings. Modernizing the space ensures that it continues to meet the needs of both students and the broader community for years to come.
Construction is scheduled to begin immediately following the conclusion of the school year and is expected to be completed prior to the start of the 2026–2027 academic year. This timeline allows the District to complete the work efficiently while minimizing disruption to student activities.
The Summer 2026 auditorium renovation represents a strategic investment in facilities that support creativity, communication, and community connection across EAWR High School.
