East Alton–Wood River High School is excited to introduce a new transition event designed to welcome incoming freshmen and help them begin building connections before their high school experience officially begins. The District will host its first-ever Freshman Fall Signing Day on Monday, May 4 at 6:00 PM, inviting members of the Class of 2030 and their families to campus for an evening focused on involvement, relationships, and school pride.
Freshman Fall Signing Day provides incoming students with an opportunity to meet coaches, connect with teammates, learn about summer expectations, and sign a Freshman Letter of Intent recognizing their interest in participating in fall athletics and activities. Students who RSVP in advance will receive a personalized signing certificate, a free event t-shirt, and dinner for themselves and their families during the program.
The event highlights EAWR’s commitment to helping students make a strong transition into high school by encouraging early participation in school programs. Research consistently shows that students who become involved in athletics and activities early in their high school career experience stronger engagement, improved attendance, and a greater sense of belonging.
Students interested in participating in Football, Golf, Volleyball, Boys Soccer, Girls Tennis, Cross Country, Cheer, or eSports are encouraged to attend. The evening is designed not only for students who are certain they plan to participate, but also for those who may still be exploring their options and want to learn more about opportunities available at EAWR.
Families of incoming freshmen can register by scanning the QR code on the event flyer and completing the RSVP form no later than Monday, April 27 at 4:00 PM. Advance registration helps ensure that each student receives their signing materials and allows the District to prepare meals for attending families.
