Overview
In accordance with federal requirements for Local School Wellness Policies, East Alton–Wood River Community High School District #14 conducted its triennial assessment of the District Wellness Policy. The purpose of this assessment was to evaluate policy compliance, implementation progress, and alignment with current best practices.
Assessment Components
The triennial assessment included the following elements:
Review of policy language and required components
Review of nutrition standards compliance (NSLP, SBP, Smart Snacks)
Review of physical education and physical activity opportunities
Review of nutrition promotion and wellness activities
Comparison to model local school wellness policies

Physical education and physical activity opportunities are provided in accordance with state and local expectations for a high-school-only district.

Areas for Improvement
The assessment identified minor opportunities to strengthen documentation and clarity, including:
Clarifying District Wellness Committee membership language
Explicitly defining triennial assessment procedures
Formalizing annual progress reporting language
These improvements are administrative and clarifying in nature and do not represent substantive changes to district practice.
Conclusion
Based on the triennial assessment, the District Wellness Policy remains appropriate and effective. The District will implement minor policy clarifications and continue ongoing monitoring to support student wellness.
