East Alton Wood River High School District #14 is proud to share an update on the Tri-District Soccer Field Project, an ongoing collaboration that continues to strengthen athletic opportunities and community pride across East Alton, Wood River, and Hartford.

This week, the district completed a test paint of the new soccer field, featuring a freshly painted “Oilers” logo at midfield. The design test provides a preview of what the field will look like for future game days, showcasing the outstanding quality of the Bermuda grass surface and the crisp field markings that define professional play.

The field’s combination soccer goals and football goalposts highlight its versatility for both soccer and Junior Football League (JFL) programs. While the JFL will finish their remaining games this season on the varsity football field, the new tri-district field will be ready for JFL use next fall.

EAWR is also encouraging the cities of Wood River, Hartford, and East Alton to consider using the new field for youth soccer programs, fostering early athletic development and helping build stronger future Oiler soccer teams.

The lush Bermuda grass has established beautifully, providing a smooth, durable playing surface. In 2026, bluegrass seed will be applied to maintain a vibrant green color through early spring and late fall—similar to the district’s football field—ensuring year-round playability and visual appeal.

This project represents more than a place to play—it stands as a shared investment in students, athletes, and tri-district partnership, reflecting what can be achieved when schools, cities, and families work together for the benefit of all students.

In the coming weeks, bleachers will be added, providing comfortable seating for spectators and creating a true home-field atmosphere for soccer and youth sports alike.

EAWR extends its appreciation to local partners, city leaders, and the EAWR maintenance teams for their ongoing support in bringing this project to life. The Tri-District Soccer Field is a symbol of collaboration, opportunity, and Oiler pride that will benefit generations of student-athletes.
