Senior Recognition, Prom and Graduation

Dear Students and Parents: As you know, we have had to cancel many of the extra-curricular events at EAWR this Spring, including all athletics, concerts, drama productions, Silver Medallion, and others. The Board, administration, and staff all are very sorry that this turned out this way, particularly for the Class of 2020.

However, in the spirit of providing as much as we can to the Class of 2020 while still following the Governor's emergency order, we are planning on providing the following activities in some shape or form.

EAWR Administrators will recognize senior accomplishments in a virtual electronic manner (instead of the in-person Senior Recognition  Assembly held in the Gym). Mrs. Robinson is working on that. Expect to see something about that in the next few days.

We are holding out hope that we will have the opportunity to have the Prom and High School Graduation sometime this summer. If restrictions are still in place that prohibit public gatherings, we will consider a virtual ceremony of some sort.

However, below are two very tentative dates for the Prom and Graduation. Assuming we can conduct an in-person ceremony, we have earmarked two weekend dates where we would host Prom and Graduation on the same weekend.

Friday, June 19th - Graduation (7:30)

Saturday, June 20th - Prom (Gym or Courtyard, most likely)

The alternate tentative weekend is:

Friday, July 24th - Graduation (7:30)

Saturday, July 25th - Prom (Gym or Courtyard, most likely)

Please remember that these are very tentative dates. We are providing these dates so that parents and students (and relatives and friends) can make some sort of plans. Our preferred weekend is the one in June. If we are still in the restricted gathering order, then we would shoot for the July weekend.

At some point, it may become clear that an in-person graduation and/or prom is not feasible. If that happens, we are doing contingency planning for some sort of alternative for both - especially Graduation, of course, and will announce those plans, as necessary.

As always, stay #oilerstrong!
